PHONE SCRIPT:

Hello, I’m calling to ask you to vote to approve a ward map in the City Council before May 19. Approving a map will allow me to vote in June to support the People’s Coalition Map.
Other constituents in your ward, including myself, want to have the option to choose between all of the best maps, especially since the People’s Coalition Map is the only map drawn with community input and Census data in mind.
Please don’t block voters from having the People’s Coalition Map on the ballot, because I want the chance to vote for The People’s Coalition Map in the June 28 primary election. Thank you!

Why Support The People’s Coalition Map

The People’s Coalition Map, a partnership born out of the Coalition Map and The People’s Map, is a ward map that reflects the population of the city and incorporates your community input. This updated map keeps more communities whole so the people of Chicago can have representation that works for them.
  1. Strengthens Englewood’s representation by configuring it into two wards, from the current six, splitting it by the boundaries of the Englewood and West Englewood community areas.
  2. Keeps an Asian-majority in Chinatown, thus creating the first-ever Asian-majority ward.
  3. Retains Austin's Chicago Avenue corridor in the same ward as South Austin.
  4. Reconfigures the Woodlawn ward to reflect The People’s Map’s respective boundaries and keeps the Woodlawn neighborhood and Washington Park in the same ward.
  5. Changes the 16th, 20th, 5th, 37th, 29th, and 28th wards to align with the ward boundaries in The People’s Map.
  6. Keeps more communities whole than the alternative.
  7. Keeps wards more compact than the alternative.

Restore power to the people by voting for a ward map that works for you.

If 41 council members do not agree on a map by May 19th, the people will have the power to vote for a ward map in the June 28 primary election. This is our chance to unify our neighborhoods, make our streets safer, improve our children’s access to public education, restore the power of your ability to vote with your neighborhood, and choose council members who put your interests first. No more carving up our neighborhoods for the interests of the Chicago Machine!
